Draft for legal review. This policy describes how the platform works today. Confirm the legal entity, contact details, retention periods and hosting regions before launch.
Who we are
Do Good Club (“we”, “us”) runs this website to help people find community groups, take part, contribute and lead. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact us about privacy at privacy@dogoodclub.org.au.
What we collect
| When you | We collect |
|---|---|
| Ask for an intro to a club | First name, email, the club, an optional age range and an optional note to the organiser |
| Register interest in a programme | First name, email, city, the programme and an optional message |
| Nominate or list a club | Details of the club, and your email and whether you run the club if you choose to give them |
| Run a listed club | Your name, role and contact details, your consent to be listed and contacted, and any photos you supply |
| Opt in to a check-in survey | Your answers about belonging, connection, whether you're still attending and any story you share |
| Use the site | Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider (such as IP address and pages requested), and usage statistics from Google Analytics (such as pages visited, how you found us, your device type and approximate location) |
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people find us. It sets cookies and sends this information to Google. We don't use it for advertising. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The only other cookie we set keeps our team signed in to the admin area. You can browse the directory without giving us any personal information.
How we use it
- To introduce you to a club or connect you with a programme you asked about.
- To check, publish and update club listings with organisers.
- To follow up at three and six months, only if you opted in.
- To understand whether our work helps, using de-identified, combined results.
- To run and secure the website.
Who we share it with
- Club organisers. When you ask for an intro, we share your first name and your note with the organiser of that club. If you both agree, we then connect you directly by email.
- Service providers who host the website and database for us, under contracts that require them to protect it, and Google, which provides our site analytics.
- Funders and partners receive only de-identified, combined results, never information that identifies you.
We don't sell personal information and we don't use it for advertising.
Storage outside Australia
Our hosting, database and analytics providers may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Survey answers
Check-in surveys are optional. Some questions ask how connected or lonely you feel. We treat these answers with extra care: only a small number of our team can see them, they're never shared with clubs, and we report them only in combined form. You can skip any question or stop the check-ins at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep intro and interest records for up to two years after your last contact with us, and organiser records for as long as a club is listed plus two years. Survey answers are de-identified after three years. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Your choices and rights
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your information or stop contacting you.
- Organisers can ask us to update or remove their club's listing at any time.
Email privacy@dogoodclub.org.au. We'll respond within 30 days.
Who the site is for
The site is designed for adults. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before giving us your details.

Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, contact us first and we'll try to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

We'll update this page if our practices change and show the date of the latest version at the top.
